Cooking on Gas refresh – crowdfunding time again!

Just over seven years ago, after a successful winter of being hidden in the bushes, we opened the swoopy blue masterpiece Cooking on Gas in Lady Cannings Plantation.
On the back of our first Crowdfunder that built Blue Steel we were lucky enough to have Go Outdoors donate the funds to complete the trails in Lady Cannings.
Built by Bike Track, Cooking on Gas provided the ideal first step into Mountain Biking in Sheffield and since its opening has introduced many riders young and old to the sport.
But all those riders down the trail have a big impact, as do hard winters and long dry summers, coupled with a lack of maintenance during covid, has left CoG a long way from its former glory.
Your Trails Need You!
Now is the time to give the trail a facelift and breath the flow and fun back into the trail. Imagine the roller-coasters that have been built in Greno in the past year, but at the blue end of the spectrum. Because of the scale of CoG it will be a fully machine built repair, so donating to the trail is the order of the day (though there will be plenty of volunteering options to be had on other trails across the city.

How can you Support the trails?
This time around we have a couple of ways for you to donate…..
Large Donations – We will be bringing in an estimated 200 tonnes of surfacing for the trail. We are asking companies to sponsor a 20 tonne delivery of material to the site. Please get in touch with us if you or your company are interested in making a larger donation.
Individual Donations – As with previous trail crowd funders, we are asking you the riders to support the trails. Donations of any size are very much appreciated. Please follow the link here to make a donation. You can donate via Paypal or Bank transfer (BACS) – please use COG 23 as the reference in either case!
As well as donating, you can really help by spreading the word of the Crowdfunder with fellow riders, but also if you work for a company/organisation that makes donations, please put us in touch.
Timeline
All being well we hope to start the build this winter with a planned opening for spring 2024. We are really excited for the next phase in the trails in Lady Cannings and cant wait to share them with you.
